Yesterday we had our first Christmas market of the season at Guiseley Christmas Lights Switch On and it was great! Being relatively new to the area, I didn't attend the event last year so had no idea what to expect so my planning and baking was all complete guess work.
When we arrived it was pouring down with rain but there were masses of really helpful volunteers everywhere which made the set-up and organisation of my stall so much easier. As soon as the event started it all looked so festive and it very quickly got busy despite the rain (which thankfully stopped a short while after).
As I mentioned in my last post, I launched my new biscuit range at the stall which was a huge success with them all selling out. I was also thrilled by the comments and feedback that I received as it was clear that my hard work was appreciated. Alongside the biscuits and cupcakes I wanted to show that I also make cakes so I decided to raffle off a chocolate overload cake which went down really well and the winner was absolutely delighted.
The whole event was so well run with numerous craft stalls, a great collection food options, live music and the lights switch on was celebrated with an amazing firework display. It was lovely to meet so many local people, introduce them to my business and generally be part of the Guiseley community.
I was absolutely shattered by the end of the evening but I was also so happy with how everything had gone. Every element of the Guiseley Christmas Light Switch On was great, it got me in the Christmas spirit and can't wait for next year!
I would also like to add a massive thank you to all of the organisers and volunteers who spent hours setting-up and packing down in the freezing cold to ensure that the event ran perfectly! Everyone was enthusiastic, helpful and positive from start to finish which was really appreciated and made the afternoon even more special!
