I thought that I would post a little update as everything is so crazy at the moment and as with many small businesses, I am still trying to come to terms with how the current pandemic is going to impact Slice of Yorkshire in the long run.
Following the government updates last week I made the difficult decision to close the business for the foreseeable future - until the country returns to normality. I continued working for as long as I could however I finally realised that I needed to play my part in keeping customers safe. As a large proportion of my work comes from supplying cafes, when they closed my workload reduced hugely so the decision to stop working wasn't solely made by me.
My house is now in quarantine so after a few lazy days I'm trying to make the most of my time (hence writing a blog post after so long). I have launched an Easter egg decorating competition which has already had a lot of engagements and I have received some amazing entries so far. I started this for a couple of reasons; firstly I have a ridiculous amount of eggs in the house as I'm not baking at the moment and really didn't want them to go to waste, I also wanted to do something that anyone can get involved with and be a part of. So excited to see more of these entries coming in.
I have also started decorating some "positivity cakes" just to keep my Instagram busy and give people a little uplifting message. I feel that so many things on social media right now are scary and negative so I wanted to turn that around with my cakes.
I hope everyone is keeping safe and that this all ends soon! Sending lots of love x
